Striped Vintage Theater Seats
With a total redo, vintage theater seats became a fun conversation piece. The pair features a smooth modern striped fabric in navy blue with gold, orange, green and white, for the seat, back and custom welting.
The metal frame and legs were redone in metallic light gold, with the metal seat back and bottom redone in deep navy blue. New oval wood leg bases, also painted in metallic light gold, were added with felt pads for floor protection where the metal would be bolted to the floor. The original wood and springs inside the seats were cleaned and retained; all other upholstery is new.
The seats fold up (with a little creakiness … reflecting their vintage character). The metal frame has some unevenness and subtle bends; the seats would be more stable if placed against a wall.
Fabric is by Momentum Textiles (“Panorama” in Depth), made of 36% Nylon; 36% Wool; 14% Cotton; 14% Post Consumer Recycled Polyester. The fabric comes treated with InCase stain protection.
The seller of the seats at the Brimfield (Mass.) Antiques Market shared that the seats came from a Florida location built in the 1940s.
Dimensions: approx. 33” high x 22” deep x 46.5” wide (with bases); seat height 19”
